The Week In Looks #14
A shorter working week and a great salad dressing recipe!
On the search for outfit inspiration? Stuck in a rut? I got you! Each week I share everything I actually wore. The good, the great, and the ‘changed five minutes before leaving the house’ kinds. I hope this will give you ideas and a bit of inspiration to get more out of what you already own. If you want the real time chaos (and the occasional genius) of my everyday looks, come follow me over on Instagram to see the outfits in real time.
Shorter work weeks are always a gift. This week felt slower in the best way, and the highlight was a small but very specific obsession.
Ever since my trip to London, I haven’t been able to stop thinking about a salad I had there, specifically the dressing. In true Melissa style, that can only mean one thing: I needed to recreate it. Safe to say, I succeeded because I’ve eaten the same lunch every single day without getting tired of it.
As I’ve just made yet another batch of this delight, I’m sharing the recipe below because forget the outfits, that was the real star of the show this week!
Anyway, back to what we’re here for…. what I wore to make it through to the weekend, only two working weeks and counting to go until my next little break away.
MONDAY
An Easter Monday well spent with some quality family time in the morning followed by a solo cinema date to see ‘The Drama’. I went for jeans and a white tee, adding the jumper and ballet flats to smarten the look. I came out of the film not really knowing how I felt about it. I loved the acting but was expecting more from the ending - honestly I think I am still processing it!
TUESDAY
Unbelievably I am still struggling with some mild cold/flu symptoms. It seems that we are just passing it back and forth between us at home; luckily I didn’t have any plans on Tuesday except running a few errands so I didn’t think much about what to wear. I reached for the balloon trousers as I can’t stop, won’t stop with these trousers!! They are SOOOO good and so many of you agree as they have been the most clicked link this week by a country mile. I decided to see how a brighter t-shirt would look with them so reached for my Margot tee and then added the jacket and trainers to achieve the relaxed look I was going for.
WEDNESDAY

First day back at work after over a week off, take me back to London someone, please! The weather was really doing its thing on Wednesday with highs set to be 23 degrees so I decided on light layers. No surprise the balloon trousers formed the base alongside a heather grey tee (that you can’t see), and I picked a super old lightweight black jumper for the top layer. I rarely reach for this jumper but this outfit reminded me how good it is! These mesh shoes that so many of you asked about last year which were OOS have been brought back this year, I’m sure they will be a sell out again so use this information wisely!
My trench finished off the look and it was the perfect outfit for my first day back. I did go for a walk in my lunch break though and had to remove the jacket as it was so warm!
THURSDAY
This is my true Spring uniform and I just love it. This t-shirt has been immediately promoted to my favourite in its category, I’m reaching for it so often. Perfectly oversized ✔️ Perfect neck line to peek out under crew necks ✔️ Best bit - it’s only €25. Don’t sleep on the men’s section is all I will say! I liked the informality of the base paired with the blazer which made it slightly more formal but not too much due to its relaxed shape; just the perfect balance for me.
FRIDAY

Friday was set to be a busy day and one of those days where I needed to dress for many a situation. I knew I needed something comfortable that I could move in, something that could possibly get dirty but also smart enough for a meeting with potential clients. My job has many facets 🤣 I’m boring myself with these trousers but here we are. They formed the base alongside a COS oversized rust coloured tee, (this colour looks so good with so many options!) I scraped back my hair, both for practicality and to balance out the proportions of the oversized look and added the trench and ballet flats for some polish. This outfit reminded me that my wardrobe is super versatile and it really is just about how you put the pieces together to make them work for any scenario.
SATURDAY
Hockey games and errands to start the weekend called for a simple base with a light outer layer. I’m always on the hunt for ways to ‘jazz up’ a simple jeans and tee formula, and this faux suede T-shirt is the perfect example of how to do just that. The texture of it adds subtle depth and interest, just enough to make it feel considered rather than basic. The addition of the silver shoes and tote brightened up the outfit and I would 100% wear this again!
Reading:
I picked up this book in the airport and I absolutely flew through it. I usually read crime books when reading fiction but for some reason I was drawn towards this book. It absolutely did not disappoint and I couldn’t put it down.
It was such a joy to read and I laughed out loud so many times, would definitely recommend.
Eating: As promised here is the recipe for the best salad dressing I’ve tried to date. Not sure how I’ve gone 37 years on this planet without trying this!
Loving:
I have been embracing my natural nails for a fair few months now after saying goodbye to the gel extensions. So far I have only been using ‘natural’ colours but as the weather is warming I am craving more colour. I had heard rave reviews about these Essie gel colour polishes (that don’t require a lamp) and when I saw this colour I hit check out immediately. It’s the perfect bright red and really lifts my mood every time I glance down at my hands! Will report back on how long it lasts but I have high hopes!
Let’s chat:
Have you seen The Drama yet? Would love to know what you thought of it!
Which was your favourite outfit this week, I feel like I had a few good ones and I can’t decide the winner!
